The Shops at Fallen Timbers is an open-air lifestyle center with a striking streetscape design for retailers, overlooking a feature lake and boardwalk area. The 640,000 square foot shopping center is anchored by Dillard’s, JCPenney, and Barnes & Noble. Full service restaurants as of fall 2012 include Granite City Brewery, PF Changs, and Red Robin. General Growth Properties first conceived the idea of a mall in Maumee, Ohio in the mid-1990s.
Initially, the mall was to have been an enclosed project, but in 2003, the company decided on building a lifestyle center. With an emphasis on providing a pleasant experience for visitors the developers turned to Torrence Sound of Perrysburg, Ohio to design and install a background and foreground music system featuring centralized control using a graphic interface to adjust and monitor program source levels and zones of loudspeakers distributed around much of the shopping area.
The Bose in ground speakers supply extraordinary music reproduction while not detracting from the architecturally unique grounds and beautiful Lake District that offers visitors complimentary Wi-Fi service, a soft-seating area with a stone fireplace, a children’s play area and seasonal ice rink all bathed in upbeat contemporary music. In addition to the music system, Torrence Sound of Perrysburg, Ohio also provided fire alarm, smoke monitoring that adds to the safety and security of the Shops at Fallen Timbers.
